Looking for princes

Embarrassing myself and being the asian tourist who takes way too many photos with a giant dslr that works on 3 modes

It's been 4 fantastic days in London and I promise to update soon in greater detail for I fear the backlog I might incur should I decide to slack off and update after the entire trip.
Missing all those back home and wishing that I had more luggage space to lug everyone over and so that I may buy up the grocery stores here and lug them home with me. The beauty of fresh produce and massive range of groceries available are 2 reasons why I could live in the UK or Australia for forever ~~

A little update! [Thursday May 17, 1am]
[ mood | tired ]

So it ended 4 days ago but it left me completely exhausted and I spent Monday and Tuesday recovering from the 36 hours baking madness that took place over the weekend. Nonetheless, as I described to everyone - I felt like I placed myself on my own internship and even though it left me completely drained with a terrible break out, it was a fantastic experience and perhaps the best experience I've had in a long while. On numerous levels, it gave me a great insight into the commercial perspective of baking and well the pure madness of running a mini bakery business.

To all those who purchased, all those who were constantly there with encouraging words and of course all those who have continuously supported me by tasting my baked goods and listening to my food dreams.
I hoped all those who purchased baked goods enjoyed their items, and if not - I promise I'll buy you a cone the next time I meet you!

It was a great experience and I was mostly pleased with what resulted from it, although there is of course further improvements to be made and I'm more than determined to perfect everything.

Also, if you're wondering why my photos are of such lousy quality ~ I used Mark's iPhone 4S because I was too busy and flustered to whip out my giant DSLR in hopes of taking a good photo.

Images from last week when I made red velvet cake pops:

tbqh, the red velvet cake pops are a lot harder to make than the chocolate-chocolate ganache cake pops - I suspect it's got to do with the consistency of the red velvet cake and of course, the fact that cream cheese frosting doesn't set as well chocolate ganache. Nonetheless, they were super yummy and quite an experience to make.
Although I thought my red velvet cake was pretty yum...I'm still not a red velvet person - still prefer a normal chocolate cake tbh (and the fact that I'm about to bake another chocolate cake tomorrow morning attests to my severe addiction to chocolate cake - I've been snacking non-stop on leftover chocolate cake over the last few days)

The cupcakes
I had 2 types of coconut cupcakes - one decorated with a baked meringue rose and the other set of cupcakes were adorned with pandan meringue frosting in the shape of flower petals - unfortunately, I didn't manage to get any photos of the latter set as I sent them before I took any photos, and also because the one frosted cupcake I left a photo to snap a photo of was consumed by my mother... before I got home from making deliveries -.-

probably the most relieved that I was done with the baking madness
my smelly dog with his giant bald patch (he got shaved for an allergy test)

& lets not forget about my fantastic elves! Who I don't think I've thank enough for their dear help and dedication <3

It was a wonderful experience and haha surprisingly, the best selling flavour was my coconut cupcakes - which made me extremely pleased given that it's my own recipe! whoops. Either way, I'm headed overseas soon but I've numerous recipes in my head and with luck I'd be able to try one or two before I leave - and if not, I guess I'll wait til' I'm back!

& to end the post:

Buddy's face when he sits in front of the window to enjoy the breeze - something he does nearly every day because my dog is weird that way.
HOW FUNNY IS HIS "THERE IS BREEZE IN MY FACE" FACE???

Cake pops and cupcakes! [Saturday May 12, 3pm]
Hi all!

After a 36 hour baking and frosting and melting marathon, I've got spare cakes to be sold!

11 Red Velvet cake pops
6 Red Velvet cupcakes with cream cheese frosting
5 Chocolate cupcakes with a chocolate ganache frosting
3 Coconut cupcakes ( i actually have more of these but mark and my father.. and wati are fiercely protective of them and have refused to let me sell anymore)

Dm me if you've any questions or if you're interested!
Also, if you're around the bukit timah/ holland/ town area tomorrow morning I can offer delivery, alternatively we can arrange for you to get it from me!

[Thursday May 10, 2am]
There is something about me and my general inability to sit still even after possibly the most draining and stressful semester yet - so after a week of non-stop baking, i concluded that I should give the bake sale idea a try given my severe addiction to baking and perfecting, or even executing properly, different forms of cake and decorations

So for mother's day - i'll be selling cake pops and cupcakes with deliveries/ collection over the course of friday evening, saturday and sunday

Because i cannot bear to deliver cupcakes without ensuring they're properly packaged - i spent today looking for cupcake inserts and suitable boxes for those who've ordered cupcakes. Unfortunately, I didn't manage to find anything suitable and when I found one, it cost a whopping $3 for a box and insert - which if you think about it, is really steep.

SO. the art & craft maniac in me set a thinking and after a full day of thinking and ideas, I headed home after dinner and executed the grand plans I had in mine ~ which I'm ecstatic worked out
The picture above pretty much sums up the instruments ~ I basically bought 10 boxes and measured, and cut, and massacred 2 boxes into 4 inserts for 4 boxes of 6

Am actually pretty pleased with the end result given that i did everything by hand and much of it was based on grand ideas I had never actually executed or thought of prior to today

Because about 10 people read my blog and I'm not sure how many of these 10 would ever be interested in learning about how I made my homemade cupcake inserts - I'm uncertain if I should bother including a tutorial on how it's done etc. but if anyone's interested, drop me a text, comment or email and I will do so tomorrow, as I bake cake :)

Orders can still be made for cake pops and cupcakes so let me know if you're interested or have any questions re delivery etc.

FYI:
Friday evening - you can get it from me at city hall from 7pm onwards!
Saturday morning - if you're in central/ western part of singapore, i'll deliver it to your place!
Saturday afternoon/ evening - collection at town
Sunday morning - if you're in central/ western part of singapore, i'll deliver it to your place!

by central/ western I'm referring to town, bishan, thomson, holland, clementi, pasir panjang, cck etc. (i'm sorry if my categorization of central/ western is an awful misrepresentation - my geography fails on me pretty often) but do drop me a message if you're wondering if i can deliver them to you!

a mothers' day special! [Tuesday May 8, 10pm]
[ mood | chipper ]

If you're anything like me - and have yet to do absolutely nothing in view of the upcoming mothers' day - it means you need a gift asap and potentially something to amuse your mother with ~ so help me, help you ( i like cheesy lines like these ones, have you heard about the title of my research paper? it's called "directing directors" how funny is that?)

In view of the upcoming mothers' day, I'm having a mini bake sale with cake pops as the main items on the menu. Going at 1 for $4.50, a set of 6 at $24.00 and a set of 12 at $45.00 (a decorated cake pop base will be provided with an order of 6 and more) I promise my cake pops are super yummy, not too sweet and made with love!

Alternatively, if you're not interested in cake pops ~ I've also got Red Velvet cupcakes (with the choice of cream cheese or chocolate ganache frosting), Chocolate cupcakes with chocolate ganache frosting and Coconut gula melaka cupcakes with pandan meringue frosting going at 1 for $2.50, a set of 6 for $13.50 and a set of 12 at $24.00.
